SATELLITE MESSAGING · AI
AI over satellite messenger
If your satellite device can text a regular US phone number, it can talk to AI. Send one question by satellite text, get one concise answer back — no app, no internet, no special hardware.
How it works
NoService AI lives at a normal US mobile number: +1 (209) 379-8911. Satellite messengers already know how to deliver a text to a phone number — so from the device's point of view, you're just texting a friend. Behind that number, an AI (Anthropic's Claude) reads your question and replies with a single answer sized to fit one text message.
Replies are capped at 160 characters on purpose: that's exactly one SMS segment, so it arrives fast and doesn't burn through your satellite plan's message allowance.
Devices that work
iPhone — Messages via satellite
Recent iPhones can send texts via satellite when there's no cellular coverage. Open Messages, follow the on-screen pointer to connect, and text our number like any other contact.
Garmin inReach
inReach devices send two-way messages to phone numbers over the Iridium network. Add our number as a contact or preset before your trip. Full inReach & ZOLEO walkthrough →
ZOLEO, SPOT X, Somewear
All of these send texts to US mobile numbers. Message us the same way you'd message home.
Before you leave coverage: save +1 (209) 379-8911 in the device, send one test question while you still have signal, and top up credits — payment links need internet to open. See the full guide.
What people ask by satellite
- Field decisions — weather calls, route choices, river crossings, when to turn back.
- First aid — bleeding, sprains, hypothermia, bites and stings. More on offline first aid →
- Repairs & improvisation — stove won't light, torn tent fly, water purification without a filter.
- Navigation basics — finding south without a compass, reading terrain, estimating remaining daylight.
In a life-threatening emergency, always use your device's SOS function first — NoService AI is an information service, not a rescue service.
FAQ
Does AI work with iPhone Messages via satellite?
Yes. When your iPhone shows the satellite connection screen, text our number the way you'd text anyone. The answer comes back as a normal message.
Which satellite messengers can talk to AI?
Any device that can text a regular US mobile number: iPhone (Messages via satellite), Garmin inReach, ZOLEO, SPOT X, Somewear and similar two-way messengers.
Do I need an app or internet connection?
No. Questions and answers travel as plain text messages. Nothing to install, nothing to sync.
How much does it cost?
First 10 questions free. Then $15 for 100 messages (valid 12 months) or $7.99/month unlimited. Your satellite provider's own per-message rates apply as usual — that's why our replies always fit one message.
